On April 23, 2011, Prof. Peter Ping Li from , whose research area is Chinese enterprises, gives NIIM a vivid lecture on disruptive innovation from the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP).
Prof. Li firstly mentions that there is still much potential in research about disruptive innovation from the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP) of Chinese enterprises; therefore, he tries to re-construct disruptive innovation and BOP together and promote a new integrated model based on globalized innovation, in order to distinguish and integrate different-typed innovative behavior in market segment.
Based on this idea, Prof. Li analyzes some subjects of much debate on disruptive innovation and BOP and gives the essential points of disruptive innovation from the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP); that’s, the original sub- standards of disruptive innovation will transfer into new mainstream standards. In his lecture, Prof. Li designs a matrix according to two dimensionalities (type of disruptive innovation and type of Pyramid level). Then four typical global innovation types have been put forward and in-depth discussed. Prof. Li also takes Huawei, GE, Kodak, SONY, cheap copy mobile phones for example.
The lecture is presided by Associate Professor Du Jian, and Associate Professor Jin Jun also attends the discussion.
