On March 11, 2024, the "Doctor Honoris Causa" award ceremony took place at the Slovenian Bled Business School. Professor WU Xiaobo from the School of Management at Zhejiang University was awarded an "Honorary Doctorate" by the school in recognition of his outstanding contributions and significant influence in the field of management education.

The honorary doctorate of the IEDC - Bled School of Management has already been awarded to such elite personalities as Dr. Erhard Busek, former Deputy Prime Minister of Austria, Janez Stanovnik, former President of Slovenia, Dr. Peter Kraljic, Honorary Director of McKinsey and Dr. Muhtar Ken, former CEO of Coca-Cola. They are all outstanding personalities who have achieved extraordinary things in their respective fields and made a great contribution to society. Professor WU Xiaobo is the first and only Chinese to receive this award in the last four years, which adds to the prestige of this list.

Professor Danica Purg, Chairman of CEEMAN and Chairman of the Board of Directors of IEDC - Bled School of Management, emphasized in her speech that Professor WU Xiaobo, an outstanding scholar in innovation management and business educator, is highly regarded in the international management field for his profound academic achievements and successful experience in innovation education. His relationship with IEDC - Bled School of Management started with many international academic exchanges and cooperations more than ten years ago. During the many meetings with Professor WU Xiaobo, I have come to appreciate his outstanding academic quality and international vision. In the cooperation between the two parties, Professor WU Xiaobo has not only contributed resources to the international education of the School of Management of Zhejiang University, but also brought innovative vitality to the business schools of CEEMAN member countries, such as IEDC - Bled School of Management.

The ceremony was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia, WANG Shunqing, and more than 100 representatives from all walks of life in Slovenia, including Bradford Business School professors and student representatives as well as alumni and business representatives. After receiving the honorary doctorate certificate, Professor WU Xiaobo delivered an acceptance speech and gave a scientific report titled "Innovation Management Across Cycles: Theory C" and had an academic conversation with the guests.

Academic Background:  Dr. WU Xiaobo, professor of Innovation and Strategic Management, School of Management, Zhejiang University. He is honored as Chang Jiang Scholar Professor by Ministry of Education, China for his outstanding achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship research and education. He is director of National Institute for Innovation Management and Academy of Global Zhejiang Entrepreneurs, at Zhejiang University. He is also the director of the Zhejiang University—Cambridge University Joint Research Center for Global Manufacturing and Innovation Management and Ruihua Institute for Innovation Management, and was appointed as senior vice president of International Council for Small Business in 2012. He also serves as the vice-president of the Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN). For many years, Dr. WU has been focusing on managing technological innovation and entrepreneurship, global manufacturing and network-based competitive strategy.
