From 19th to 20th of April, 2007, the 2007 ICSM2007 was grandly held in Sichuan University. The theme of this conference was “the Strategic innovation and Sustainable development of Chinese enterprises during restructuring time”.
Professor Wu made a thematic report entitled “The Globalized orientation of Chinese enterprises” by invitation. By using plenty of recent data and cases of transnational mergers and acquisitions of Chinese enterprises, Professor Wu revealed the rising tendency of our manufacturing enterprise’ investing aboard
in recent years and analyzed the industry distribution, main initiations, main obstacles and difficulties in the globalization process of Chinese enterprises. He also discussed the foreign countries’ attitudes to Chinese enterprises’ globalization. Further more, he analyzed the different paths and characteristics manifested in Chinese enterprises’ globalization through the case study of Huawei, Lenovo, Haier, TCL, Haohaizi, Fushikang and other enterprises. In the end, he concluded by “Rooting in China, while making global strategies” as an explanation as well as expectation to the globalized orientation of Chinese enterprises.
This international conference was hosted together by Sichuan University, American University of Minnesota, and American University of St. Thomas and organized by Business and Management College of Sichuan University, University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, School of Management of St. Thomas University. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs of American University of Minnesota, strategic research and development center of Sichuan University. More than 100 experts coming from universities of The USA, Britain, New Zealand, Malaysia, etc. and more the ten other domestic universities including Zhejiang University, University of Chinese people, Nankai University and Sichuan University attended this conference.
