Professor Wei Jiang and Professor Wei Longbao of School of Management together with two graduates, Xu Lei and Zhu Xihu, investigate and survey Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Gannan in Gansu Province from Aug. 25th to Aug. 29th, 2008. The research is based on the project which is jointly established by both the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the Office of the Leading Group for Western Region Development of the State Council (OLGWRD) with the aim of promoting economic, social and cultural development in ethnic minority areas in the China’s western region.
During the research activity in Gannan, the team had wide-ranging discussion with members of Development and Reform Commission of Gansu Province and relevant county government departments at all levels on the problems of promotion of entrepreneurship and training for farmers and herdsmen and other related issues. In addition, led by Xiahe County and Lintan County government officials, the researchers visited some of enterprises run by farmers and had in-depth exchange with farmer entrepreneurs.
