Professor Sun Yifei of California State University, Northridge visited NIIM by invitation and shared with more than 30 teachers and students academic lecture entitled "Location of foreign R & D in China and Topic Selection for Postgraduates and Doctors" on June 26th, 2008.
Associate Professor Liu Jingjiang presided over the lecture with Professor Zhang Gang, Dean of the Department of Business Management as council person. The lecture was divided into two phases. In the first phase, Professor Sun introduced the foreign R & D institutions in China in general, discussed the influence factors for choosing locations in China by foreign R&D institutions on the basis of empirical research, explained the reason for the phenomenon of centralizing location in Shanghai and Beijing for foreign R&D institutions from uncertainty and corporate behavior and put forward a strategy to deal with uncertainty. Then, they had in-depth discussion on the factors that affecting the choice of location, rational choice models and data collection methods and so on. In the second phase, Professor Sun were careful to answer the students on topic selection of paper and then discussed with them on the match problem in management research methods, the question how to publish academic papers on international journals and attention for topic selection of papers.
