Zijin Fifth Innovation Forum and appointment ceremony for venture mentors of Hangzhou Science and Technology Business Incubator were held in National University of Science and Technology Parks of Zhejiang University on June 28th, 2008. Eleven scholars and entrepreneurs were appointed as the first team of venture mentors of Hangzhou Science and Technology Business Incubator who receiving great achievements in theory and practice of entrepreneurship such as Professor Chen Jin, vice president of the Institute of Public Management of Zhejiang University as well as First Deputy Director of NIIM, Zhu Min, Board Chairman of China Investment Co. Ltd., Hangzhou Green Group Chairman Lin Dong and so on.
In recent years, the Hangzhou municipal government attaches great importance to the construction of science and technology business incubator, increases support of efforts, optimizes the environment for the development of incubators, and promotes the rapid development of Hangzhou science and technology business incubators cause. In 2003, Hangzhou City was listed by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the first group of "Pilot Cities of Science and Technology Business Incubator System". To further optimize the environment for innovation in Hangzhou, improve service capabilities of hi-tech business incubators and produce more technology-based small and medium enterprises and high-tech enterprises, Hangzhou City complemented the strategy of Science and Technology Business Incubator "Venture Mentors Action". Through the establishment of three forces of "Venture Liaison plus Venture Counselor plus Venture Mentor", we could improve the venture counseling system of Science and Technology Business Incubator.
Venture mentors, who can identity with the Torch Program, entrepreneurial spirit and the value of entrepreneurs, are outstanding professionals in aspects of providing guiding, professional and practical services for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. They are from successful entrepreneurs, successful technology entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs in the field investment and financial and professionals, management consulting experts, innovative scholars and practical workers with extensive experience. The main functions of them are the following: implementing training for venture liaison and venture counselor of Science and Technology Business Incubators; science and technology business incubator management counseling training; implementing training for the management members of Science and Technology Business Incubators; coordinating and spreading common entrepreneurship wisdom and experience; providing diagnosis and advice in the development process of the hatch for business incubators; providing venture counseling by venture mentors in ways of one-on-one or one-on-two patterns for entrepreneurs; proposing recommendations and advices on the environment construction for technology business and government oriented policy for government by venture mentors with the appointment of Hangzhou Science and Technology Bureau.
